"BBC staff have been warned not to focus too heavily on British success in London 2012, as Director General Mark Thompson advises them to remember other countries are competing too."

Really? How much does he get paid for stating the obvious?

Why shouldn't the BBC be biased towards the British and Irish athletes!?

We don't have to save the world. The world is big enough to look after itself. What we have to be concerned about is whether or not the world we live in will be capable of sustaining us in it.

Those on the right constantly claim the BBC is biased in favour of the left; those on the left, that it is biased in favour of the right.

They can't both be correct. The most likely explanation is that the BBC is generally even-handed, and the perception that it supports whatever happens to be the other side for any given group is just an example of cherry-picking cases through confirmation bias.

If a politician of any persuasion refuses to be questioned in a public forum, it's inevitably because they have something to hide, no matter how much they may posture about principle.

I do hate NF! This was a great thread until he bought reasoned logic into it. This is supposed to be general.

Who gives a tulip. British patriotism is back in spades and it's never felt so good.
