Olympics excellence versus constant football underachievement

Players don't go abroad due to money of prem and because they CBA to learn another language. Thus they only learn the high tempo hoofball of the prem.

This is why we have a solid defense, but little trickery or attacking flare.

If we want improvement in the football team then it will take time. The cycling hasn't happened overnight they built the best, employed the best in the world to coach and the cyclists wanted to BE the best.

The footballers already believe they are the best right at the start of their career and as such dont feel the need to improve and better themselves.

Id be interested to know how many hours footballers spend training compared to top athletes who train 5-6 hours a day pretty much 365 days a year.

Footballers seem to spend more time in night clubs, shopping & sunning themselves on yachts!

When youre getting paid 100K a week and your team can finish 5th, 10th in the premier league, what incentive do they have to do anything different. There's no hunger!

They did that a little while ago, didn't seem to work thought did it? I think you'll find though that the 2 organisations at the higher levels are not too dissimilar, guided by greed and money, its only when you get down to the lower levels you'll find the commitment and energy to their respective sports.

It's too much money, the premiership is more important than the national game as the F.A are bankrolled by Sky TV.

National success would be detrimental to the league and they won't let that happen.

Another is that the UK try to compete at nearly every sport imaginable, unlike most countries, but there's only so much talent in the population to go round them all.

I'm worried that our relatively disappointing swimming team will start poaching our bog-snorkelling talent.
