How hard is it to put a pair of pants/socks/tuck a shirt in and put a phone on silent - trust me you aren't so important you need it on.
On the mobile rule - lots of blokes want to be able to shut off the world = missus for a few hours and get some peace and this is thier only excuse to do so, that will account for some of the votes !!
I am not quibbling their right to make up their rules, I am questioning the attitudes and the obsessive way that they are enforced.
I absolutely agree with the mobile phone ban. The problem I have was with the way that the breach was dealt with by the club captain.
Also if they want to ban women from voting or playing at certain times then it is their business.
If the Taleban end up winning the war and invading the UK through the shores of Muirfield they might decide that we are too extreme for their liking and p*ss off back home.

In my experience people who obsess over club rules and traditions in any sport are usually not the members who are recognised for having any great ability in that sport. Good players in any sport have more important things to concentrate on; that's perhaps why they're good.
And what exactly is wrong with an "ad hominem" argument? Dodgy Agent, 16-5-2014

Yeah, you make a good point.

But you get the arsehole tendency in all walks of life, not just golf clubs. Even among contractors!

Edit: PS Not all golf clubs have those sorts.
