I would argue that the vast majority of household names are, in fact, twunts of the first order.
And also some non-household names, like yourself.
    WSGS

John Terry is a household name and is the leader of the twunts.

Well I suggest you set aside a few days in September to watch the dedication and professionalism exercised by these "twunts" when they put their personal ambitions to one side and line up to take part in the greatest show on earth.

      The Ryder Cup.

These clubs are dominated by old people who can hear a mobile phone conversation a mile away even though most of them own up to being half deaf. These same people can spot a wrong colour sock from hundreds of yards, again whilst being half blind.
Golf (particularly in the UK) is dominated by the wrong people.
Thin end of the wedge though, isn't it. There's a blanket ban on mobiles on the course for a reason. Some people aren't as descrete as you say your mate is, and not as polite either if you ask them to stop while you are playing. In the early days of mobile phones they caused several contratemps.

The sock colour thing is a bit daft though. I've fallen foul of it (it only applies if you are wearing shorts). But in my experience few clubs bother that much.

          High Priest in fact.

Still a damn good football player though. Twuntism does not equate to useless sportsperson, and I don't think the OP was suggesting that - it was a sassism.
