Looks like he has pretty much got this in the bag barring a severe crash with a broken collarbone. Have to say the competition isnt there. The next best guy is his team mate.

Shame about Frank Shleck, it just proves these athletes do indulge in some form of performance enhancement.

Yeah as long as he doesn't change tactics, or tick tacks, or tacks and more tacks.

Overall a pretty boring tour this year. No Andy Shleck ("winner" in 2010), Evans has looked poor from the get go, No Contador. Its probably the only chance that Wiggins will have to win it. When Shleck and Contador return next year - they'll rip him to pieces on the mountains.

Poor Cavendish - imagine any other world champ being a domestic and getting no support on the sprints. Anybody else think he's doing it just for the cash. Perhaps a new team will form and take him on for next year, I don't think Team Sky is the place for him.

I don't know thats true. He's a lot stronger in the mountains than he was a few years ago. He climbed well in last years vuelta as well as the shorter races he's won, and he's been in excellent form this year.

It doesn't prove anything yet, and if, after hearings, B samples etc, he's found guilty, then it only proves that he had something naughty in his blood; it doesn't even prove that he put it there deliberately.

He's a professional sportsman, doing what he's being paid to do. That might well earn him the chance to win more races or sprints next year.

Paris is a formality for the GC guys, I would expect to see Cav back at the front again and contesting the final sprint down the Champs with support from the rest of the Sky team.

I like wiggins, he's a good honest, man, and a great cyclist to boot. However, this was the only year he'd win it, to be frank. Contador and Shleck are far better on the tour. Contador, next year, I would bank the house on winning it.

I think Sky have shat all over Cavendish, to be frank, but maybe he knew that he'd not get the support, that they'd be going all out for winning the TdF rather than just the Green jersey, as I think both the Yellow and Green were beyond the team. He also got involved in a lot of the early crashes which would have stifled him a bit. In one of the early sprints, I thought sky hung him out to dry to be frank. In France and Belgium, he's a hero to loads of them, lauded everywhere he goes, maybe next year he needs to be in another team, I agree.

I'll celebrate Wiggins winning this year, for it's history making. However, it's a bit like Murray winning a grand slam after Federer, Djokovic, Ferrer, Tsonga, Berdych, Tipsarevic, Del Potro, Almagro have all pulled out.

In any sport, you can only beat the people who turn up to play. If they think they're better they should bloody well turn up and compete, and otherwise they're admitting they aren't. No prizes in sport for being the armchair expert's favourite.

Anyway, I don't know whether Cavendish could have beaten Sagan in the points race; I have a feeling Sagan is going to be the biggest name in cycling for quite a long time. He's absolutely gifted.

Isn't it naive to suggest that? Cavendish knew all about the team he was joining and their targets for the TdF this year. I don't think it was a secret since we all knew as well.
