    We switch over to tidal

and when the tides stop we go to solar and when the sun stops we go to wave generators and when the waves stop we go to nuclear and when we are ass deep in radioactive waste we go to another planet and start again

Thats a scientific fact that is.

ipso facto (it is a fact that) if there is no sun, there is no surfing
if there are no waves, there is no surfing

cog ergo sum(therefore) the sun causes waves

You can surf without the sun if accompanied by sharks with fricken lasers attached to their heads.

Waves can be caused by other means, not just energy from the sun

However the sun does stop the oceans from freezing solid

Caveat emptor (with one small caveat) If you take some water out of the sun, it does not freeze
and if you take an ice cube out of your fridge at the north pole into the sun , it does not melt

therefore, the sun does not prevent the oceans from freezing solid
