We've had a spate of burglaries around our area (just outside of London on the West) recently, and frankly it's not an area that's known for crime at any level! A number of surrounding towns and villages have been hit. 2 of my local friends have had their homes broken into.

Looks to me like these are ever more desparate measures of ever more desparate people.

A lot of these types of burglaries are carried out by opportunist amateurs. The result and impact is the same, however, and I too would go skitz on anyone unlawfully entering my home (I'm no way as a big as Diver though ).

It's always worth having a chat with them. Seriously, find your nearest store and have a chat with them.

Sorry to hear of this lot SM! I've spent a bit of effort trying to make our less attractive to the local scrotes. The alarm is an ADT one - not that it's any good but at least it is monitored. The hope being if they were to pick a house on our street, then hopefully it would be one that either doesn't have an alarm, or if it does, one that they know isn't monitored. All our windows have locks on them and all our fence panels are now screwed into the concrete posts that they fit into. I'm also thinking of putting a CCTV thing out the front and back. A few beware of the dog stickers might be an idea also....even though our dog is the biggest puff on 4 legs. All they would have to do is show him the hoover, iron, ironing board, brush or in fact anything at all so long as you make the noise woooooooo with it seems to get him to do a runner!

The thing is, if they are keen on breaking in to your house there is little you can do to prevent them. Most double glazing can be got through using a spade as a crowbar....that's how they did my mates house.
Rule Number 1 - Assuming that you have a valid contract in place always try to get your poo onto your timesheet, provided that the timesheet is valid for your current contract and covers the period of time that you are billing for.

                  I preferred version 1!

I was looking at CCTV too, as I was in Maplin the other day anyway. You can get a decent set for about £300 but I think the cameras are wired rather than wireless, which is a real pain.
