Third speeding ticket in six months!!

Getting worried now....

Just got the NIP, this is madness, I'm scared of even going out in the car to the station now. Some points...

1. All NIPs from mobile cameras...

2. All just over the limit, ie not taking the piss.

3. From 1985 until my first NIP last Sept I never had anything, not even a parking ticket.

I took speed awareness for one, this takes me to six point's now, who knows what else in the post, I could have more to come. I'm not a boy racer, honest!

I'm seriously considering dumping the car and putting all the taxi's/trains/chauffeur even on the Ltd, (I believe you can get driving ban insurance!)!

OK, I sped, I'll take the fine, but the points thing makes things stupid from a work POV, I could end up banned in a day with all these mobile cameras, and then who knows re: getting about the country necessary in this game.

The Speed Awareness Course I went on (which was actually very good) which was in North Yorkshire but it applies to all regions.

I was done in South Wales, North Yorkshire and now West Yorkshire on my doorstep.

Can't you do a speed awareness course in each county at least once or is there a central record office?

Central record, tried that one! Even Wales and England is one....

Funny thing was I got all my NIPS shortly after changing car, forgot the MOT was six months earlier, drove to and attended course with expired MOT. Opps....

Took car in after I realised, passed first time so no drama but still illegal. So I got a bit back!

Ok, so to sum up:

1) you don't know when MOT for your car is due
2) you don't know the legal speed in the area

What else - no insurance, stolen vehicle?

A colleague of mine overtook a bus on a 50mph stretch in his Porsche, touching briefly 80mph.

I was caught nearly 4 years ago overtaking a lorry like that. You put your foot down, and in a sports car you're doing 80 quite quickly. I probably could have slowed down sooner to be honest, but you don't tend to do that, you overtake and then let the speed ramp down slowly.

That was a camera van, and 3 points and £60, then 2 months later I was caught speeding down the M20 trying to catch the Channel Tunnel. Same penalty. I guess I'm out of the woods on the 3 years now.

The 10% or whatever allowed is a complete myth.

The government send you a reminder for tax, so I don't see why they don't also send you a reminder for the MOT. It's very easy to forget.

If you're having so much trouble gauging your speed from a speedo, then buy some sort of GPS device with audible warnings perhaps?

And you've never done 34 mph, or over, in a 30 mph zone? Same claim for 70 mph on the motorway motorway?

More likely a day doesn't go by that you don't exceed the limit for some small amount of time and it's just a matter of luck that you and any of the other people sitting on high horses here haven't been done yet.
