I've answered your questions nicely - if those truckers don't like the conditions of work they have they can pursue a number of choices:
1) get another job in the same industry in a company that offers them better conditions
2) create their own company working for the benefit of union members and share any profits - John Lewis model
3) change career completely and do something else
4) STFU and be grateful they've got a well paying job that can be done by a soldier that normally risks his life for £20k

I don't have a dogma and FYI I don't like Cons much either, however all things considered I don't like unions that extort money at all. If the truckers were dieing due to unsafe practices of the firm then I'd be all for unions to make sure safety is not compromised, however what they do is extortion and their strategy should not succeed.

I usually hate strikers. In fact, for years before Jeremy Clarkson said it, I've said that strikers should be lined up and shot. If you don't like your job, p*ss off and find another one. If your employer breaks the law and you're a bedwetter, take them to a tribunal. If you arent a bedwetter, show your boss they aren't the only one that can break the law.


However I support the drivers here. I want to see mass strikes, I want to see blockades and London cut off and going dry. The government needs to be sent a message and that is to stop extorting money out of good hard working middle/working class people.


Want to save money? Stop promoting the welfare culture. I know the coalition wanted to limit and scale back welfare, but instead of stopping someone claiming who needs help between jobs, instead, stop glamorising teenie pregnancies.


One couldn't say too much, as trying to start civil unrest is treason and an offence, but I hope people of the UK don't let themselves be too oppressed and take necessary action at the appropriate time. I believe it is time for a revolution and I think contractors should lead the charge. We can use MF in operation 'human shield'

For my 2c worth I think they're taking the p***. Threat of strike is just bully tactics that should not be allowed.
IMHO the unions are as bad as the government (whichever one is in power because lets face it they're all the same with different make-up on). Neither of which are truly capable of running a p*** up in a brewery because they're all too worried about what the next big win is/could be. A little more time spent looking at grass roots and they might just realise that if they tackled the issues at hand (reduce the welfare requirement in the UK or costly red tape on the government's side and things like dealing with bullying and unfair treatment to individual or small groups of employees(and I do mean proper unfair treatment not things like "conditions are bad")) would be far more effective a way of making sure that a lot more people are happy than the way they do things now.
The strike has taken a bunch of drivers who probably do have a legitimate axe to grind, applied mob mentality and turned them into people half the country will hate because of the choice of action by their 'union'.
Doesn't seem like the union is serving its people in the best way possible to me. And who is it that suffers? It's not really the companies the people work for. Either they will get soldiers (aka heros) in to drive the tankers or the demand for fuel will backlog and lead to more requirement for drivers after all the strikes have finished. Profits will average out for these companies. Is it the government? No. They'll ride it out and put a spin on it that no-one truly believes but they won't care anyway. No....it's f***ing us....again. The people who rely on these services day in and day out. What do they expect? That we're going to raise hell in parliament and demand that polititions help the strikers? Maybe one or two people will but the vast majority will not.

Two rants in one morning....must have got out of the bed on the wrong side.
