Contract interview are quick 20-40 mins just covering your CV and telling you about the role with maybe a few questions thrown in. Anything more than that and I would reject it.

Clearly they're not. And no reason they should be - a contractor hired for a full year is neither a cheap nor a short-term measure. For a 3-monther it's a different story, but making a business decision to spend £100k in 20 minutes isn't prudent.Originally posted by russell View PostContract interview are quick 20-40 minsOriginally posted by MaryPoppinsI'd still not breastfeed a naziOriginally posted by vetranUrine is quite nourishingComment

But the one of the main benefits of using contractors is that you can terminate them if they are useless. People can wing their way through interviews so you can't be sure until they have been there a few weeks.Originally posted by d000hg View PostI think the main issue is that his pipes are leaky.

Several points to answer that:Originally posted by russell View PostBut the one of the main benefits of using contractors is that you can terminate them if they are useless.- You can terminate new employees very easily too; probation periods are the norm
- Even if you terminate after a week, that's a couple of grand wasted
- That is dwarfed by the hassle of having to start looking for another person, you could lose man-weeks of work if you hire the wrong contractor, for a loss of £10k+
