I did wonder exactly what the Charles Green consortium bought. I get the feeling that it may not actually be much more than thin air.Originally posted by Cliphead View PostThere is no Rangers, there's the old company in liquidation. There's the new company Sevco 5088 or Sevco Scotland with no players, no history and maybe no assets as there's talk of them being siezed under the proceeds of crime act. Latest I'm hearing is two former managers, two directors and some others may be charged with fraud.merely at clientco for the entertainmentComment

Alex Thomson from Channel 4 news and others tweeting that Green is frantically trying to offload the NewCo before the end of the week. As things stand the NewCo is looking unviable and will not be allowed into the SPL so little revenue will be coming from whatever league they end up in and may in fact be suspended from playing for a year at least. Criminal charges imminent and how will that affect the big picture?Originally posted by eek View PostI did wonder exactly what the Charles Green consortium bought. A sinking ship and we're looking at the pointy end sticking skywards out of the water just before it goes under for good.Comment

As a Hibs fan I am absolutely delighted to see the demise of Rangers and the breakup of a duopoly that has ruined Scottish Football.
The SPL has for too long been treated a a by-product of the Glasgow Championship which has driven thousands of fans away from non-old firm clubs.
Since 1985 (Souness revolution), The old firm have spent over £340m on foreign transfer fees, thats not even counting the wages.
This money used to be the financial bloodline of Scottish football till the duopoly turned a tourniqet on the Scottish league, bleeding our national game dry and killing off grass roots football in this country.
With Rangers gone there will be increased competition for 2nd place, this will drive fans back to the games, more fans attract advertisers and more advertisers attract television companies.
That is the business model for Scottish football.
The current set up has proven to be a failure.Comment

There will be a LOT less money from Sky so it would be much more difficult to pay high fees for foreign players, if only Govt banned EPL from selling rights with all games shown on BBC that would result in a lot of local talent and who knows, maybe Italy would have been beaten ...Originally posted by CoolerKing View PostWith Rangers gone there will be increased competition for 2nd place, this will drive fans back to the games, more fans attract advertisers and more advertisers attract television companies.

Sky revenue is small change and not worth a fck and won't change the bigger picture in Scottish football.Originally posted by AtW View PostThere will be a LOT less money from Sky so it would be much more difficult to pay high fees for foreign players, if only Govt banned EPL from selling rights with all games shown on BBC that would result in a lot of local talent and who knows, maybe Italy would have been beaten ...
