    Why?

They just sell brands and they are as cheap as your other well-known supermarkets.

The wine and spirits are random.

They might have some nice german beer. Not really worried about cost if they have my favourites, I hardly drink anything these days so I want the best stuff I can get. £3-4 a bottle from online specialists seems excessive when it's €0.85 in the supermarket though.
While you're waiting, read the free novel we sent you. It's a Spanish story about a guy named 'Manual.'

Just been into WHSmiths to buy a book(of a personal nature). Went to the counter, the fat fooking gurning shop assisting cretin behing the counter barely looked up. Took the book, added a voucher. Then a leaflet. Then another voucher. My credit card went through. He then placed a credit card receipt on top. Then the receipt. Not saying a word.

"Can I have a bag please?" '1p' he replied. 'I don't have 1p'. Silence. Big queue building.

I offered my card. 'I'm not doing that it's stupid'.

'Fine. If you no bag. No sale. Refund me the money'

Not a word, refunded me the money & I left. WTF is wrong with customer service in this country.
Carrier bags in B&Q are free, but they do reserve the right to apply a discretionary 5p **** surcharge.

I suppose if I were there in the queue I'd just give you 1/5p if I had it - that nobody offered says worse about our society than the customer service.
          Perhaps they knew him?

In Cloggers if you want a bag you pay for it, they don't supply placcy bags at the till. They're normally just before the till area so you can add them to your shopping.

Even at the market, it's expected that you bring your own carrier bags for whatever you buy.

So you make sure you have your heavy duty bags before you go to the shops.
