Well, you got yours before me. Don't know about anyone else. I owe you a pint.

Btw, does anyone else think that "Linux" may not be the correct OS for kids?

How about RiscOS as in the old "Archimedes", at least they'd get access to a decent BASIC and wouldn't have to worry about "sudo", "su", "ls" and stuff...

I set up my cross platform development system yesterday. I can build stuff, just haven't got my hardware to run it on yet!

Btw, check out OpenELEC - The living room PC for everyone

They've got a section on building their distro and apps for the RasPi.

          Ok, it arrived yesterday (10/05/2012).

Just had it running in the office, powered from the USB port on my PC - works very well.

Will be taking it home tonight and hacking away like a mad bastard over the weekend.

I still maintain that Linux is not an OS for kids.

Oi Pondy! Mine came with a leaflet that had "startx" written on it

I keep hoping, but I've yet to come across a release where I don't need to resort to command line stuff to get some pretty basic preferences to my liking.

I downloaded the source for RiscOS a couple of days ago and have been looking at that with a view to trying to get it running on the "Pi" but considering most of the code is in "arm" assembler it's going to be a bastard of a job.

I've stolen the BSP from "OpenELEC" so I'll see if I can port my BASIC interpreter on top of a simple OS. Trouble is, I'm in charge of the baby this weekend, as CM is out on a Hen party so I won't have much time unless "BabySpod" turns out to be a Daemon Coder!

You don't really want his first word to be fork(), it might be misinterpreted.
While you're waiting, read the free novel we sent you. It's a Spanish story about a guy named 'Manual.'

Considering his mother is Irish and she's married to me, what do you think his first word is going to be?

                    Ouch, that was bad timing.

Code while the baby kips I suppose.
