Fiat 500 sport, £8k - Lots of fun. Trust me :O)

If that's what you're after, then chuck in another 1500 quid and get one of these instead - much more fun !

Compensating with super plus at the minute, €1.25 a litre but who's counting.

Where is the "none of the above because German cars are ludicrously expensive without any possible justification" option?

I was given one of these as a loan car, honest opinion: Roller skate, it felt like I was sitting in a tin can & went about as fast as one after 20 mins driving one got a numb posterior & stiff lower back, granted it was economical but if you mean to do anything over 5k mileage a year get something a bit more comfy & secure feeling.

              WHS.
If they were so well built they ought to come top of the JD Power/similar but they invariably languish in mid-table.

                Specs:

Diesel, 4 door, up to 100k miles (no more), saloon, no more than £8k

                BMW 3 series
                Mercedes C class
Audi A4/A6 (A6 is current frontrunner)

                Poll to follow...
100K seems like high mileage to aim for, not from an engine point of view (they'll doubtless have been thrashed, but most likely professionally serviced), but from a running gear perspective.

Yeah but you do get a 'shove'.

Look, if you can't afford a prestige German motor, well, to be frank, it's because you never really made it. Low achievers.

Plenty of nice 2nd hand Fords and Vauxhauls for you guys to toodle around in. Just stay out of the big boys lane on the motorways and you'll be fine.

My problem is that I don't want a "prestige" German motor as I find the average BMW and Mercedes driver utter s

As for audi I've seen better build quality and interiors in a top of the range Skoda.

As for my next car I'm tempted by the new NSX so will get one when it arrives. Until then I'm really not sure so I will probably just keep my current runaround until then.
