So only well off people who can afford to buy their homes outright should have kids?

I never realised this site was populated by such beacons of virtuosity... sorry I meant pious twunts.
Science isn't about why, it's about why not. You ask: why is so much of our science dangerous? I say: why not marry safe science if you love it so much. In fact, why not invent a special safety door that won't hit you in the butt on the way out, because you are fired. - Cave Johnson

That is not what I said. I said that people who can not afford to have kids should not have them, likewise with mortgages. But feel free to continue putting words in my mouth and so showing what a dick you are.

        It's all self-delusion.

Some people seem to think that adopting a far-right 'it will never happen to me because I .....' viewpoint will somehow act as a screen, and protect them from reality.

In days like these, when the axe swings, it swings for all.

I have seen several 'professionals' turn up at the Job Centre for their initial signing interviews wearing suits and ties, and carrying leather folios etc.

They make eye contact with nobody else, and 'they don't really belong here'.

They don't realise that the Job Centre staff have seen it all before, and as soon as you come in through that door, you are dolie scum, just like all the rest..

You said she shouldn't have taken out a mortgage or had kids despite the fact she was (I assume) surviving OK before the cost of living skyrocketed, is that not being pious and judgmental?

Maybe she should have looked into her crystal ball before embarking on the treacherous journey of normal life.

You assume she was surviving? What makes you think that? In the article I read the woman clearly states that she had never experienced the "good times". Did you read that, she, the woman in question, not me, not Edwina, not the paper, she said she had never experienced the good times. Yet she decided to take out a mortgage and have 2 kids.

Define 'good times'?? Should she have a paid for 4 bed detached with a 3 series on the drive before having a family? I would imagine most ordinary families are struggling in one way or another and I for one have some sympathy for them.

I have 2 kids and a mortgage and I've had worryingly long spells on the bench over the last few years which I didn't foresee. Are you telling me I shouldn't have had kids or bought a house? I only have a 3 bed and a Mazda, does that qualify as 'good times' on your judgment scale?

Are you really that illiterate or just drinking yourself to death in Munich because your life is so tulip?

Well, you didn't do much work between 11:20 and 19:27 yesterday, did you?

Another day off? Perhaps you work nights? Or live in a different time zone maybe?

Well Edwina has always been a bit of an arrogant bint.

Hardly fair on the woman saying she had squandered it. However £12,000 for a couple with children seems a little low. Family tax credit, income support etc should kick in?

EO You are right we only went through phase 1. The other phases sound horrible. Would that still be the case now?

Benefits need to be finely tuned, currently the balance is towards generosity if you work the system. It also means they shy away from taking difficult decisions. Benefits except where mandated by illness need to be capped.

Yes they may have seen the suits and the attitude but did they see the potential in the fresh Doley scum? The new ones are most likely to find employment surely?

Nope, there is only one sh*tcan. There isn't a 'nice' can for professionals.

Just 'believing' that you are a special case doesn't make you one.

Most of us are only in jobs because they haven't found a way to outsource the work to the Bobs yet ... but they will.
