The usual tulipe about how we don't waste money and there is not enough to go about. My own sister said to me last month 'MF you don't know what it's like not to be able to have the money to buy a loaf of bread'. And my answer was 'No you're right but that's because I've always made ends meet'.
My sister saved £3000 a few years ago and blew it on going to centeparcs over Xmas saying that 'other people do it' she was then skint for the rest of the year. I on the other hand would never have spent that over the Xmas period because it's a waste of fooking money.
The lead in the article doth protest too much.
Silly cow, she should have waited for 2 weeks and got a 3 bed exec lodge for £250, I wouldn't dream of going to Centre Parcs during peak times.
Science isn't about why, it's about why not. You ask: why is so much of our science dangerous? I say: why not marry safe science if you love it so much. In fact, why not invent a special safety door that won't hit you in the butt on the way out, because you are fired. - Cave Johnson
I would like to apologise on open forum to wim121 for calling him a liar.
I do not agree that it is possible to feed a family a normal minimum British diet on state benefits only, unless you are screwing the system, but that's just numbers.
But it is a serious thing to call somebody a liar, because you are insulting the person.
I wouldnt be too hard on myself if I were you. It's possible to feed yourself for £0
provided you already have a gun.
Wim is talking about an extreme lifestyle, which is only possible here and now. most people will only get extreme if they are forced to
you are right though, calling people a liar is bad. you twat

Ahhh thank you kim/chris.
Dont worry about it though, people call me far worse
I agree with your initial thought though, one cannot eat nicely on £10 or less a week (well £5 or less a week per person). It really is a horrible way to live.

It depends what benefits I suppose. There is a myriad of so many it's boggling. Also once you get something like DLA for example, then you become eligible for free buses, warm front/heating grants, council tax benefit, etc etc.
I would agree, that if you were just on JSA only, then that £78pw or whatever it is now, would be very tricky to scrape by on, nigh on impossible depending on where one lives perhaps. However many making a live for themselves on welfare, will go beyond JSA.
'I never said I’ve borrowed money from anywhere. I’m paying off old bills like council tax.'
Although she maybe on benefits and maybe getting Council Tax benefit now, Council Tax is causing poverty in the country for low paid workers because unpaid CT builds up while they are working and carries over to when they brcome unemployed. I know a barrister who does free representation for such cases and it is true that some people can not afford basic food because of council tax bills.
The councils are greedy and do not even follow their own guidelines in such cases. It is disgusting that family has to pay over £1k in CT in order to satisfy the pension requirements of council executives.

How we connect giving life to the arbitrary notion money is necessary for society to exist is beyond me to breathtaking.
You're life today was the process of millions of years of evolution, the pound in your pocket could be worth halve it's value next week should Merv decide to press the printing button. Should the lucky couple wait until then to find out?
Years of evolution? Read your post and tell me if you feel that evolution is working if we are to use you as a shining example.
Something doesn't add up with the original story though does it. The young woman in question states that she has no credit cards, TV subscriptions or other debts. She also says she has 2 part time jobs and her husband has a part time job. Their income in total is 1K per month. They are in council tax arrears and are behind with the mortgage (450) a month.
This woman rang the radio station because she sometimes goes without food to make sure her kids eat. Edwina had no sympathy and said the woman should have not spent quite so much in the good times.
My opinion. Edwina was right to have no sympathy, but her reasoning was wrong. This woman has never had any "good times" and has never lived the high life. That is the entire point. This woman has never had any good times and yet she felt it was a good idea to take out a mortgage and have 2 kids. Now she thinks she has a right to complain about a situation of her own making.
I was also unimpressed with her statement about living off chicken dippers and cereal. At our local grocers you can get a sack of spuds for 5 quid. That will last at least a week. At Morrisons and other stores you can get whole cooked chickens for 3 quid, 2 will do dinner and sandwhiches the day after, and there are always cheap(ish) vegetables. There are many other cheap and often healthy foods out there.
Just saying like.
where there's chaos, there's cash !
I could agree with you, but then we would both be wrong!
