    Yes indeed.

I'm currently doing a handover and seeing what this person has got planned is going to blow right up in their faces.

I am advising accordingly, documenting what needs to be done and making sure I don't get blamed for anything.

Agreed. Go home and sit and wait for the call. He is obviously threatened by you, and there will be nobody else left to blame during the (hopefully short) time when you are not there.

Leave 'nicely', don't slam the door :-)

I'm finding it even more amusing that the project in question needs a high level of understanding of the subject matter, of which they have none and clearly demonstrated so in a recent meeting with the project team.

I took great pleasure in watching the horrified looks on everyone else's faces

Stop advising. Just make that 'grim smile' and shake your head sadly.

Make sure that the document about 'what needs to be done' leaves the premises when you do :-)

Do nothing. It's a no-brainer really. Do you really want to lose both your diginty and your integrity ? Having a proffesional outlook on life is so important, it maintains ones spirits even on those long cold nights when you are on the bench and the wife and kids have left you because you are a loser.
Do you really want that to happen to you ? get right back in their , fight fire with fire, stick the knife in and get the hippo sacked. Are you a man or a mouse, it's a no-brainer

The (Permie) or the Hippo in question:
                  - Eliminated my chances of going perm.
                  - Undermine my abilities to our manager, thereby making me look that I'm not good at my job.
                  - Undermine my abilities to other other stakeholders, face to face, on conference calls and via emails.
                  - Hidden key emails from me by not CC me in. So it took me longer to learn about these business processes.
                  - Push another permie off the project because that person hated working with him.

Although I can save some of my reputation to address the issues, it looks like he's finally got his wish and I get this feeling in my last month that my contract will not get renewal for another 3months by our manager.

I have two weeks left in my current role, loads of knowledge and applications have been built or documented by me to address the current project and to help the project through 2012.

Where possible, I've put my name on the applications to prevent him from passing the applications as his or the documents that I've written too.

QUESTION: Should one remain profession and leave it as learning experience or would one person serve up REVENGE on the backstabber permie who looks like a HIPPO.

TBH, I would not know how to serve up REVENGE...

What would you do in my situation? or
                  Sounds like fun.

Why not get in nice and early and gently fill the foam pad on his chair with a brown liquid. (just use a syringe and go in from the side.) that way when the hippo sits down they will have a very nasty surprise and a uncomfortable waddle home, with everyone wondering if they have papped themselves...
