Take him aside and warn him if he does that again you will kill him, cut one of his bollocks off as a warning and post it to SimonMac.

      - Undermine my abilities to other other stakeholders, face to face, on conference calls and via emails.
      - Hidden key emails from me by not CC me in. So it took me longer to learn about these business processes.
      - Push another permie off the project because that person hated working with him.

If he did all this, he's obviously better than you . Go quietly

Going by what you have written, seriously I think Hippo would make a better contractor than you.

Anyway, you've left it too late to deal with now. Just move on and forget about this client, because you'll be slated there even more after you've left and you'll never work for them again.

You should have dealt with this a long, long time ago.

Make sure to tell the permie you've just secured a contract paying, for example an extra £100/day more

              That's all we need, a Suity/Wilmslow hybrid.

Can you write some more posts about your garden shed / dogging experiences?

Got so bad at one site, a permie guy had his pride and joy sports car keyed quite badly.

                  This country.
I have worked in several countries as a freelancer, and when I first started up in the UK the whole contractor vs permie thing caught me by surprise. Sure it exists in other countries but only as one among many potential workplace tensions. This particular thing is worse in Britain than anywhere else. If a permie has trouble starting the car in the morning or an argument with his wife, it is considered culturally acceptable for him to relieve his stress by picking on a contractor because "he earns more than me" or whatever.

My feeling is that the suspicion of freelancers is essentially a divide-and-conquer tactic by management. Anyway, another good reason to leave and work in an economy with a healthier atmosphere.

On the surface remain professional. Try some revenge without letting it be known who is doing it. Get a prostitute's card and change phone number to be the HIPPOs then get them printed up and distribute. Or similar via ad in paper.

On a similar note. Pop down to B&Q and get a can of foam filler. Sneak round his car and empty the filler in his exhaust (you might need some sort of bung to stop it coming out the back).

**Obviously this would be classed as criminal damage and therefore illegal so I would not suggest for one minute that you took this (or any other) advice as an instruction.
                      Just saying like.

I could agree with you, but then we would both be wrong!
