Ok - an epsilon minus -

1. JSA is supposed to be for SEEKING work, not doing it. If you are sweeping streets, you aren't looking for a job.
2. We have a min wage - JSA is way less, so you are saying on one hand "no-one should be forced to work for less than x" and on the other "unless the government is forcing you".
3. Enforcement - the proportion of those on the dole who are lazy scum wouldn't turn up, so you'd need an army of enforcers, or at least cut off their benefits - a huge admin overhead and subject no doubt to the usual Civil Service "efficiency"

It is utterly, utterly unworkable as most people more than 3 years old can see, and why it isn't done.

Oh just FOAD Dodgy - it isn't practical as you would realise if you had a brain. I want people to work - I have always worked when able and I see that as a normal state. I wouldn't mind betting I've done more menial tulipty jobs than you, too.

As someone with aristocratic roots, I've made it my goal in life to get people working for me, while I live a life of relative leisure.
It has always been thus with the upper classes (and the people we bring in).

Why is it you people seem to think that not working is so god for people and refuse to countenance any idea that gets people working. It is as if you seem to think that not working is somehow helpful. Not working is the worse thing that human being can do.

I was pointing out some misinformation about benefits - if we're debating benefits then let's try and be accurate. Where the rest of that twaddle you posted came from in the ball of confusion that passes for your mind, I really have no idea.

Why isnt it practical to make people work for their benefits? they can join work gangs to remove graffiti, paint walls and pick up dog turds (I suggest you carry a whistle around in case you get mistaken for one ). The workers will then have a sense of satisfaction and it will mean they will find it easier to move up the ladder. I don't mind organising it as long as I get 20% of their benefits.
