We'd really miss you on here if you get shot over Iran - for everybody's sake try not to act like Mr Bean and when they start torturing you with electric power just smile and say you've been married, twice!Comment

The point about ranges of Israeli aircraft is moot anyway. Israel certainly has missiles which can reach Iran and not bother to come back.
Also, as far as we know, Israel has never conducted a nuclear test. This means that they don't have to. If they have warheads, they are therefore exact material 'clones' of warheads that have been proven to work by somebody else in the past.
In which case they are probably based on early thermonuclear devices, and can be delivered by missile.Comment

I say: why not marry safe science if you love it so much. In fact, why not invent a special safety door that won't hit you in the butt on the way out, because you are fired. - Cave JohnsonComment

There is a big distance between ferry range i.e. the range of an unarmed plane with extra fuel tanks, and the maximum range that it can fly and still carry weapons.
The Isreali F-16s probably have a range of ~600nm with conformal & drop tanks & two air to surface missiles.
The F15 would be a much better choice.Last edited by doodab; 12 February 2012, 00:18.While you're waiting, read the free novel we sent you. It's a Spanish story about a guy named 'Manual.'Comment
