At the same time as the potato famine British ships stopped off in Ireland and took what food was remaining is probably one reason why Britain was blamed for a lot of the starvation - and then confiscated land but that's all history and obselete. Don't understand why todays generation is to blame for any past generation whatever nationality, creed, religion - it just doesn't mean anything.

Its nonsensical to claim that slavery is a black issue. Historically slavery is one of the oldest forms of commerce which effected every nation on earth, Ethiopia and the gold coast being the largest suppliers of black slaves to anyone who would have them.

These slave routes are still active today supplying the middle-east and parts of SE Asia.

This whole thing seems to be a distraction as only yesterday in London's Evening Standard there was news of another brothel bust and a high proportion of the women being trafficked now are from Eastern Europe, South America and SE Asia. Most will end up in the Middle-East, Europe and America.

Damn the sins of the fathers, we need to be worrying about the trade that is going on today. But as we can't blame the white man for this its not a priority.
