In a nutshell England has had a completely different philosophical tradition to Europe. Starting with Bacon and continuing with Smith, England has believed in the empirical tradition of emergence and bottom-up organisation, while Europe believes in a Cartesian top-down approach.
This is very clear in the current crisis, where Europe is imposing structure from on high, while the UK believes in the invisible hand of the market.

Now do try to do some reading and get an education before posting childish rubbish on here.

It goes back further than that. Britannia was the only Roman province to be overtaken by non-Romanised tribes. This led to the emergence of common law as opposed to the continental Roman law system. And later the Napoleonic Code. It is a fundamental difference in outlook. Similarly, the intrinsic distrust of a standing army and conscription is a British peculiarity compared to the continent.

You can see this today in a mind your own business live and let live attitude. For example it is hard to imagine a ban on burkas being accepted in this country because it would be seen as an intolerable intrusion on the individual choices that people make.

Sometimes "in short" is just too short. There are several meanings covered by the word Europe. Many "continental" Europeans use it to mean the EU, for example.
