Those 'efficient' private schools have about twice the money per pupil as public sector schools. So raising everyone to that level would presumably involve a substantial increase in general taxation payable to the 'parasitic' state.
Mind you, make it a condition of the job that every Government minister had to send their offspring to state schools and it would happen overnight. My subconscious is annoying. It's got a mind of its own.Comment

You could triple taxation and throw 10 times the money at state schools as they do now but it wouldn't make a scrap of difference to the education of the children therein - as they say, you can take a horse to water but you can't make it drink. Discipline has been eroded by do gooders to such an extent that it is a distant memory - couple that with being raised by parents who were the first to 'benefit' from more liberal schooling and you are on a hiding to nothingOriginally posted by pjclarke View PostThose 'efficient' private schools have about twice the money per pupil as public sector schools. The problem with modern education is that a lot of parents seem to think that it is entirely the states responsibility and will take no part in either extra-curricular education or in making sure their child is doing homework.Originally posted by LisaContractorUmbrella View PostYou could triple taxation and throw 10 times the money at state schools as they do now but it wouldn't make a scrap of difference to the education of the children therein - as they say, you can take a horse to water but you can't make it drink. State schools in good areas tend to do well because the parents in that area know the value of education and will push their kids.
In comparison schools in poorer areas have always performed badlyCoffee's for closersComment
