just view it as a different sort of contract - just gone permy myself - sometimes feels quite wrong - but total comp is about 10% less than contracting at a pretty good rate - also looking at current contract rates in my area (unix/city) - they appear to be a lot lower than a year ago by a couple of hundred pounds per day . ..
