No you're not, if you were you'd ask him privately. In actuality you're a small-minded little man who has nothing better to do with their life than try to put down others.

If you don't like people posting in 'your' threads, don't ask the questions in a public internet forum, you idiot.

oooh ark at her. Not very Christian behaviour, methinks.

As an aside, since AtW insists on posting economic nonsense on here, I'm merely asking him the sorts of economic questions he really should be asking.

They already know where their customers come from because they have log files and other traffic stats.

What we sell is data that can help see where competitor is getting backlinks (and this often can mean traffic too).

The crawl rate is far too slow for it to be worth using.

              AtW,

I will offer you a challenge.

I will create 10 URLs with content on day one. I will pay for 1000 back links, the 10 URLs will be given 30 back links per day. This will take just over one month. Links and URLs will be provided to a third party poster. I suggest that the links be given one month to bed in. Each month thereafter I produce 1 web link and we compare how your stats on that link compare to google's webmaster stats on each URL.

Can you get *any* data on competitor websites that you do not own and therefore can't verify in Google Webmaster Tools?

GTW will give you 0 for those, and SKA might get a lot more though nobody can guarantee it will be 100% of what Google knows, but in most cases links from most important well linked URLs will be picked, and some low grade spam networks you might end up buying your links are worthless in the first place and certain big websites like facebook block all bots apart from top ones.

Feel free to go ahead with your test, just bear in mind what I said (GWT does not provide competitor data) - when you finish test I'd be interested to look at actual URLs you obtained links from to see if there are some reasons we did not pick them up (low rank can be most likely).

I am just saying like you might want to prove something.

I have set the test and you can prove something, I am giving you the chance.

                  Can you?

I don't want or need to prove to you anything - if you choose to run your test in your own I might be able to dedicate some of my very valueable time checking the results and trying to explain why we have not picked certain links - there can be many valid reasons why it does not happen and in many of those cases why it doesn't matter.

Back in 2007/2008 when I was building first indexes I used comparison of data shown by Yahoo/Google to see how many we matched, this was done for 20 URLs belonging to domains of all sizes. We had very high match ratio especially identifying links from root domains rather than specific URLs, this does not mean it will happen for every URL - a lot depends on where links positioned and how valueable they are in grand scheme of things.

P.S. If you are buying 1000 links then most likely they will be worthless unless you'll be asked to pay 5-6 digit amount. Sadly some people are being scammed out of their money by being offered lots of links for sale for cheap amount of money - those links go to worthless places, so more and more people use our services to keep an eye on whether we pick those links up - not picking them up can often be a good sign they are worthless.
