I did not say take them away, I said that there are plenty of very hard manual jobs in farms and that could be good way to get people off unemployment benefits.

Anyway the point is that France supports its agro sector and UK supports the City.

Here are the results: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/2574253.stm - and that was nearly 10 years ago.

    That says it everything.

Nobody in western Europe wants those jobs; that's why Romanians and Bulgarians do them.

And if you try replacing the eastern European farm labourers with feckless weedy western chavs, we'll all starve.
And what exactly is wrong with an "ad hominem" argument? Dodgy Agent, 16-5-2014

So your evidence is a ten-year old speculative article written by a journalist?

Let me put this bluntly to you: you're too limited to run a company, find someone else to do it before you go bust.
        Hard Brexit now!

France is doing ok with preserving its country side, subsidies certainly help get supply of good - very smart strategically.

I don't know if only eastern european farm labourers who work there but they've achieved important objective that will keep them well fed.

There is plenty of futher evidence.

"But after a series of closures the hamlet, which is home to 300 people, has been left with just one shop and tops the list of neighbourhoods that have lost the most amenities in the past four years."

Well, you do not even run a company and I doubt you do any real work in the first place, I don't think this makes you qualified to judge my abilities to run a company which in any case won't be decided by you.

A case study in a newspaper is not evidence. For every village in decline there may 5 thriving ones.
And this sort of change probably happened for centuries.

I think you need to keep coming back to CUK regularly so that you don't forget about your mediocre IQ.
You're probably surrounded by yes-men in your company, so you won't have a true picture of reality

So in your view UK rural areas are not in decline then?

Au contraire, I'm well off and have to make many financial judgements to preserve my wealth.
I certainly wouldn't invest any money with you at the helm, regardless of how good the idea was behind it.
I'm not having a go, its just that techies in general don't make good business people (with some notable exceptions).

First you have to define decline.
But in general, I haven't seen any credible evidence of that, no.
