          I know the difference perfectly so I fail to see the need for the link ....

          Please learn to read before jumping to assumptions in the future. One can pledge their allegiance to england even if they arent technically english.

          Im british, yet I wasnt born in Britain and I am a classic example of a technicality and of how someone residing in a culture at a young age can ally themselves with natives.

              Yes and we are subsidising them through the CAP. If we object then the French will veto anything that changes this. Just because it gives French peasants something to do does not mean we should have to pay for this.

                    1.You failed to get the point. Brits = British (not just English)
                    2.FYI you live in Great Britain (not Britain) Great Britain and Brittany in France (Known as lesser Brittan) were the same country. Great does not mean powerful in this context, it just means the larger of the two provinces. Many people in the South of England are of French Origin known as Normans.
