          Oracle will be less prevalent for the most interesting apps going forward though. Simply because of the overhead involved in scaling up Oracle versus competitors like Netezza, Teradata, Kognitio etc. Meanwhile SQL Server is picking up the reigns in the low volume end of things, simply because it's far cheaper to license and maintain.

            Clientco is presently moving to Netezza. Even though the volumes are not great Clientco is so pissed off being held to ransom by the Oracle DBAS, tulipe virtual servers and poor infrastructure they moved to Netezza. Two hour cubes builds took 30 seconds in Netezza and there was no-one around to bang on about how good PL/SQL is.
