I despise the idiots who get on trains with bikes, they smell bad and take up loads of space. Then they moan if you push past them while they take 10 mins to alight the train. Either take the train or cycle.

its not just cyclists, nearly took out 2 joggers and a dog the other night, both wearing black with a black labrador running with the flow of traffic.
I always tell my kids if your gonna walk/run down the road always be on the side facing the oncoming traffic because you can then see whats coming towards you rather than behind,

In Cloggers safety gear or lighting doesn't seem to be an option.
Though thankfully in some cities they have cycle paths so you don't have to deal with cyling loons.
Except in Amsterdam where i am convinced that most of the cyclists there have a death wish and you really have to be aware of them.Comment

Cyclists who dress in black, wear earphones and have no lights are a tiny minority Shirley?
Must be a London thing.Science isn't about why, it's about why not. You ask: why is so much of our science dangerous? I say: why not marry safe science if you love it so much. In fact, why not invent a special safety door that won't hit you in the butt on the way out, because you are fired. - Cave JohnsonComment

I wear reflective gear, no earphones and have lights. Quite a few drivers only just miss me. So what is the point?Originally posted by gingerjedi View PostCyclists who dress in black, wear earphones and have no lights are a tiny minority Shirley?

Never worn a safety helmet myself and had considered them a bit sissy, but having not thought about the physics, but having seen it in action, the argument for them becomes more compelling. Turns out that when hit from behind, the angular momentum of the cyclist and the forward momentum of the car are a perfect storm for sending a cyclists head thumping into a car windscreen. Or in simple terms the lower body is swept away and the car crashes into his head which is heading for the floor and not travelling horizontally as fast as the car. Presumably pedestrians meet a similar fate. People on mobile phones are my pet hate though.Comment

Nope. It's not a 'London' thing (I live in Dorset.), it's a 'moron' thing (they're everywhere).Originally posted by gingerjedi View PostCyclists who dress in black, wear earphones and have no lights are a tiny minority Shirley?
