Thanks for the post bless'am all. Nice little story and a little warning for us all. When you look at the inevitable drivel posted back, just be glad that you are not also a bed-wetting cretin with disappointing personal hygiene and poor chances of losing your virginity. I expect you've met the type before.

If you want proper advice, best avoid General and use the FAQ service in my signature. In the meantime, it may be sensible just to check where the agency Directors live and get gay sadomasochistic porn sent to their houses.

Keep on posting, as we could badly use some quality here.

One of the nice things about CUK, bless 'em all, is that you only need to make a moderately astute point and some bumbling little man will illustrate it perfectly, often within minutes.

Hate to rain on everyone's parade here, but if the client or the agency want you out, they won't invoke the notice period clause, they'll use the one about immediate termination without compensation. The OP has been treated fairly, nobody needed to give him the extra 10 days.

          IMVHO...
          Blog? What blog...?

            Shhhhh. They might hear you.

I was half expecting to be told there's no work for the next ten days (probably because there are so many doom-mongers posting on here) but it looks like they haven't thought of that.

Client Co TM just popped over to explain that they've found a permie to replace me. I'm too expensive, apparently.

What immediate termination clause? Have you seen Bless'ems contract?
And no, he has not been treated fairly, there is feck all he can do about it since he agreed to the change though!

And as for they don't have to pay you if there is no work to do: If you're in a contract where you can walk in one morning to be told "sorry, there's no more work for you" and yuo can't argue back as yuor tasks are doled out to you each day then chances are the nature of your work puts you inside IR35.
If you've been taken on for a specific project then unless someone has magically finished everything overnight, you will see the end of the project coming and if it is being finished early then your exit can be planned gracefully.
If the company suddenly wants to change requirements and find they do not want you then they can either pay an early termination charge or take you on (with a new contract) to work on the new project.

Malvolio is right, you are wrong.

It shouldn't be that way, but thats life.

Permie replacement starts today. 10 days of handover.

                  "These are the test designs".
                  "These are the test scripts".

Now, how do I drag that out for 10 days?

                    Talk very slowly.

Give them the stuff, and an hour of background.

Then tell them "if you've got any questions, I'll be over here...." and spend the next 9.75 days on Jobserve / CUK (delete as appropriate)
