Thatcher bestrode UK politics like a collosus. In any other era, Neil Kinnock would have been a great leader, prime minister and statesman.

Falling over in the sea and doing that 'oh yeah' speech didn't exactly help his cause, people in Cardiff don't trust folk from 'The Valley's so I guess that didn't help either.

It is odd that they are paid so much for doing so little, but there again that isn't unusual.

I am a huge Thatcher fan - but it is entirely wrong that any ex-PM should receive a handout from the government.They could earn money by going in the stocks at the local fete and letting the public throw wet sponges at them.

Yes they also deserve every penny as without banking what industry do we have, the finanacial sector is the backbone of this country now and without it we are fooked so pay the money
