I don't blame you. I guess if you're an impecunious renter, Germany is much cheaper.
It'd cost you about £6K a month to rent somewhere decent in Wandsworth. This one is not too far from me:

I was a contractor nigh on 15 years, in the last few years got the head of dept. job with a salary comparable to contracting earnings but without the travelling.

A chap could feel embarassed to explain why he doesn't want to rent or buy a house like that, especially if the lady of the house is present; 'I'm terribly sorry, it's a beautiful house and the price is just about right, but I'm not particularly keen on the decorations and the palm trees'. Could be tricky to explain without thoroughly offending the people who've obviously put a great deal of effort into presenting the house.

Perhaps it's easier to just be a bit more plebby and just say 'nice house, decoration was done by a chav, no thanks', but it's not my way.

But be careful, the last time someone (me) called them arrogant koonts who cycle in the middle of the road, even though they have an entire cycle lane, then have the cheek to whine when they get run over, that person got banned.


God damn cyclists. The 99.99% of idiotic ones give the rest a bad rep. If the nitwits dont want to be run over and killed, perhaps they should start obeying the highway code and keeping in their own lane. I have no sympathy for 99.99% of them.
