In this case it was the outside of a bus which was already going slightly right. 3 lanes of traffic. So its the same net effect as what you said.

I have a friend(shock!) who has had a word with a couple of cyclists. One ignored him, one got abusive. But you are right! I might give it a try next time. I have seen a few accidents(or the aftermarth) recently and I always find it very upsetting.

I suppose I will get my face punched in for my trouble.....

Depends how you do it. Offer sympathy, ask if they are ok. Then gently point out that the inside of a bus/lorry when they are pulling away or turning is not really a safe place to be. If they get arsey just say "suit yourself" and ride off.
