    Hmmm, I guess insurers became cheap and it's no longer automatic that with comprehensive insurance you can drive other cars with 3rd party only cover.

    In which case the right answer is 7 words: phased plasma rifle in 40 watt range.

    For police that is - they'd burn you off the face of this planet!

    Take it easy - at least local police won't beat the **** out of you and take your wallet

          I honestly never seen that before.

          Every policy I've ever had says.

          "and to drive other vehicles not owned by the policyholder or hired to them"

          E.g.

          If your certificate of insurance says so, we will also cover the policyholder for your liability to other people while you are driving any other private motor car which you do not own or have not hired or leased. This benefit applies to full licence drivers only. We will only cover you if: The vehicle is not owned by your employer or hired to you/them under a hire-purchase or lease agreement;
          You currently hold a full European Union (EU) licence;
          The use of the vehicle is covered in the certificate of insurance;
          Cover is not provided by any other insurance;
          You have the owner’s permission to drive the vehicle;
          The vehicle is in a roadworthy condition;
          You still have your vehicle and it has not been damaged beyond cost-effective repair; and
          Your occupation is not restricted by our acceptance criteria.
          You must be 25 years of age. Age is based on your age at the inception/renewal date of your policy.

          This extention applies while being driven within the territorial limits and only to private passenger vehicles. It does not include:

          Vans;
          Car-Vans;
          Jeep-Type vehicles with no seats in the back; or
          Vans adapted to carry passengers.

            Tell me about it.

            My insurance is the highest it's ever been, for the least cover, driving one of the worst cars I've ever owned, with something like 9 years no claims.

            I might need to use your services shortly, where is the discount code entry for CUKers?

              That's the point though - perfect way to change it quietly and make some extra profits.

              However in all honest I always thought such blanket permission was crazy - taking out comprehensive insurance for Fiesta should not provide cover for driving Ferrari ...

                Out of interest I've checked insurance quote for a Ferrari worth £150k and it was £2k where as I am paying £500 for PUG 307

                  Ok, so I was stopped in a white van, whilst my own van was being repaired. I'm not sure if it's more or less common in vans.

                  I'm a secret contractor-pikey you see, tarmac yer drive?
