His stuff just looked nice. Battery was tulip, so you couldn't track a proper bike ride. Just a bunch of useless tulip; nothing Apple have produced has changed my life, and most around me. Biggest bunch of over hyped tulipe I have seen in ages. A buddhist with $8.3bn personal wealth. Yup, that makes proper sense.

    Pfft
Why would anyone prefer fugly stuff? (all other things being equal)

Not an Apple fanboy either but I do have an ancient iPod - looks nice and was designed by a Brit too.

I've just had a very cynical thought which I'm not particularly proud of but there you are.

Does anyone think they pulled the announcement of the iPhone 5 and went with only the 4S - which the media seem generally underwhelmed with, knowing that this was about to happen?

Share price dips on 4S. Visionary leader passes away causing doubt on Apple's future direction. So they've kept something up their sleeve to show it's business as usual with a much bigger crowd pleaser to be announced shortly.

Just a thought even though it's not a very nice one.

Style over substance. How about a device that stopped recording your bike ride if the phone went off, or a text message arrvived? All incosequential anyway, as the battery would die before the end of the bike ride.

I'd always prefer something that was actually fit for purpose than one that looked nice. This includes women; I dated a few beautiful women in my youth and in my experience, they were a lot more maintenance, and a lot less fun than their dowdier friends and worse wives, as it turns out.

A sensible man would ask; "Why are you using a phone to record your bike ride if it's so important to you?"

Well, we probably disagree on the use of the word sensible, but a normal man would probably answer as "he bought it for it's gps capabilities".

The following movie is worth watching for the initial story of Apple and Microsoft, and how Jobs and Gates (along with the other founder members) jostled for position in the emerging market of home computers.

Pirates of Silicon Valley (TV 1999) - IMDb

Ironic that the only legal way of watching the movie in the UK is via piracy.
