Lady Randolph Spencer Churchill had a snake tattooed round her wrist.

Winston Churchill had an anchor tattooed on his arm.

George V had a dragon tattooed on his arm, as did his brother.

Tasteless indeed. I suppose they fall in and out of fashion all the time.

Wouldn't want any generalisations here in "General", would we?
Oh they are, generally done in moments of madness which adhere to stupidity and things quite lower class.

Churchill drank a couple of bottles of brandy a day.

                tats

I have 5 tattoos as part of a sleeve design on my righ arm.

I work in banking in London and none of my collegaues know I have tats as my shirt covers them no problem and I would never have ones I can't cover up at work - not suitable for office.

I pay a good sum to get decent ones - in fact, my tattoo artist charges £70 per hour so actually earns a bit more per hour than me!

As with most things, you pay for what you get - cheap tattoos look cheap and place said tattoos on neck or other prominent place and you will regret them in years to come.

Well I cannot produce a bar bill to cover the comment but he was a massive boozer and woke up to a drink in the morning. I read something in the Suntday Times the other week that he requested a bottle of champagne & a bottle of brandy each day and a tall glass of (port I think) for breakfast during his meetings with Stalin.

I have several that I regret, and several that I still like.

Ones I regret are the angry looking duck on my shoulder (dont know WTF I was doing that day) and the fly agaric mushroom on my other shoulder. Been on my todo list for years to get them covered with something else.

Got a big gecko that goes from my shoulder to my tit, that looks good, and some lettering that runs down the back of my neck which also looks good but I kinda regret because its visible when i'm in work clothes.

I once worked for a manager in banking who had tattooed arms which were visible through his white shirt - it just looked so wrong in such a conservative environment and took some of the gravitas away from him (I'm sure its just a perceptual prejudice)
I'm not sure whether banks condone or have an opinion about them
How fortunate for governments that the people they administer don't think
