This is the type of message we should be sending out to people who incite violence on Facebook and Twitter.

Actually. We should do that to all people who use Facebook or Twitter.
What happens in General, stays in General.
You know what they say about assumptions!

Duh, that committing an offence which may have lead to a criminal act should carry the penalty which would have been applied to the actual criminal act had it ever occurred. That's what's happened to the Facebook Two.

You can't make drunken comments or posts on the Web now. You can't make jokes either, of course, as we already know:

BBC News - Man in Twitter bomb threat against airport loses appeal

EDIT: As Spacecadet already noted ^^

well a £385 fine. Comparable with a parking offence, and getting your car towed.

Must admit though 6 months for pinching a bottle of water does seem excessive.
        I'm alright Jack

The only thing it doesn't have in common is the technicality of the law as it currently exists.

Are you suggesting that we have reached some kind of legal Nirvana at this moment in time? That no laws should be challenged or changed from now on because they are all perfect as they stand?

Surely the sentence in that particular instance is not for what you pinch, but the fact that you're looting.

              Deliberately ironic?
              Just saying like.

              where there's chaos, there's cash !

I could agree with you, but then we would both be wrong!

                    Does anyone remeber this:

BBC NEWS | England | Police chief backs rioters' prison terms

                    And then this:

BBC NEWS | England | Jail terms cut on Bradford rioters

We've been here before. Expect the appeal courts to be busy.

                    ----

                    Edit:

                    Reading this is pure de-ja-vu:

                    http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/2092980.stm

Organisers said the courts handed down "harsh sentences" of up to four-and-a-half-years to make sure their decisions had a deterrent effect.

The way I see it incitement to riot is a very serious charge, if they had got the ball rolling then property, person and livelihood was at very serious risk so 4 years is right I would say.

Sadly we have loads of thick chunts who just do not have a feckin' clue how to behave and when facebook gets involved it magnifies that thousands of times.

I wonder what the 2 people in Glasgow will get who tried to start one on facebook? they must be full on crapping it now.
