Technically the police cant get involved as it is a civil matter but it depends on the police. I have seen people beaten up and sent to hospital, the police said it was a civil matter. On the other hand I have seen two separate cases with L&T issues that were clearly civil matters, police interfered unlawfully. (One occasion the policeman was the brother of the landlord).

I have more trust in the mafia than the police.

Don't listen to all "macho" stuff on here, just sort it out. You can always sell it again on E-bay, quicker than dealing with some disgruntled punter.

doubt i will sell again on ebay after getting myfingers burned with this idiot. Even if he returned the voucher i have no way of checking if he has used them unless i call the company to check this out.

i do have a similar type off voucher available (a better one with spending money) and the cheeky idiot now demands that i post my other voucher to him or return his cash! what a

Ah obviously you haven't found time to think. So let me spell it out for you.

If you sell goods it is not worth the effort of arguing and disputing with the customer, when it takes a couple of seconds to give the money back, and you sell it to the next punter.

In other words it aint worth it.

              Off topic; I know, but…

Often shops won’t even take back faulty goods. I bought a satnav from Halfords. It was very faulty. I took it back two days later, they refused because the satnav contained software and “it would breach copyright laws”. I even wrote two letters to the MD. The MD never replied. What a bunch of sh1ts! TomTom end up replacing it themselves

If you buy stuff in the shops, it's generally covered by the sale of goods and supply of services act and of course the shop has their own customer services reputation to think of which is why many offer you a refund within 30 days etc.

Buying stuff privately is a different kettle of fish, you don't have the same cover.

The guy insisted the sale take place outside of eBay, it stinks of him chancing his arm.

Sounds like the shop was outside the law there. When you buy something it has to be satisfactory, as described, fit for purpose and last a reasonable length of time. Sounds like yours wasn't fit for purpose.

                  There's a guide here.

Yes, I know that but it is pointless having laws and rights if they cannot be enforced. I contacted trading standards and they said they said HALFORDS had breached the law but all they can do is to advise me. I would have had to issued a summons and gone through a time consuming process to get a refund. However had I walked into Halfords and left my faulty one and took a new one; I would have been sent to prison.

There are no rights for people unless they can be easily enforced.

i decided to make ebay aware of the situation, with regards to the harrassment etc, and the claims by this idiot that ebay support, and that he really demanded that i end my sale to go private and suspect he may be a con man.
I also made it clear that under the DPA ebay cannot release my contact details to anyone.
