I've seen much of the rest of the world. It is brutal and cruel and dark, Rome is the light. -
Vicky P is mine ... only joking.
Funny you should mention the Will Janey, my partner through a hissy fit and wouldnt talk to me for 2 days, after I told her in my Will I would leave her the house (life insurance would of paid off mortgage), and my £ in bank / savings would be split between my family. The issue on the will was I was supposed to leave her everything and then she would decided what my family gets .... noComment

Time to bail out, Ivor1. You will both end up resenting each other in the not too distant future. Scary after so long, but for the best for both of you.Comment

I think you should just bite the bullit and get married.
Then take up gardening have a nice big shed built, spend the majority of your spare time down there untill you pop your clogs shortly after retirement.
stiff upper lip and all that.
See you, you ****. I'll cut you first...

Ivor, you need out of that one at speed ! if you are even having these thoughts then I just don't see it working.
Mate of mine, him and missus sold their houses and moved in together, mostly chucking in about the same amount of cash. He always kept a grip on expenses, spent what he had but no more. She has 2 teenage sons and my mate naively thought he could keep any sort of control of finances etc. Now he has totally given up trying, she has just kept spending on the house, kids, holidays, clothes etc. 2 remortgages later he is still struggling to live with the mentality of spending whatever cash someone will lend you.
Point is, if you go 'cards in', then you have to give up that autonomy, regardless of the proportions each person is contributing. In addition, if kids turn up then you can expect that you will get last shout on your money not first. If no kids then you should expect 50% back if it breaks up. If you have a house that she moves into and you keep paying the mortgage then she has no claim on it, even if she say buys all the food, pays for holidays.
IANAL but another mate is and unless you marry her you are fine, if you do marry her, expect to pay and keep paying regardless of what you both brought into the relationshipComment

In the 60's & 70's the Western world was brainwashed into thinking that they could save the planet by reducing the size of their families -this fitted in with the new feminism which saw it as a way of freeing (sic) women from the drudgery of child raising...... of course no one thought to tell the Third World who carried on churning out large families.
We are currently witnessing the effects of this policyComment

Let me put this simply. It doesn't really look like this woman really loves you.
I can tell you that from bitter experience. Oh how many years/£s I wasted on girls whom I thought loved me, and to be fair I think they thought they did too. But the day you meet someone who really does love you is a full-on "D'oh!" moment.
