Expat Brit, short contract in UK, who pays me?

    Hi All,

I've been out of the UK now for 6 years and intend to stay out long term.
However, I have the chance of a nice UK contract for 3-6 months.

Simple question: Can I pimp myself though a company based abroad?

So UK agency pays my non-UK company who then pays me.
I'd stay domiciled/resident abroad for tax etc

Company can be EU or non-EU because of my circumstances

I understand that I'll get opinion here.
I'll worry about hard facts later but wanted some ideas first

    Cheers

No idea, but good luck on the tax avoidance.

I have worked in the UK with overseas company, but it was directly with client.
Most agents want you to have UK LTD.

A UK agency doesn't want to get landed with your tax bill hence as the other say lots will only deal with UK based companies.

I wouldn't take the risk. You've been out for 6 years and you've got some 3 monther lined up which might put you right in the HMRC firing line.

              Stay out of the UK, it's a tax trap and a s h i t e hole to boot.

I think if you study the stuff on HMRC website you will find that if you are not in the UK tax system, as a UK national, you can only attend the UK for incidental activities like business metings etc.... Otherwise, what Dim Prawn said.

The idea of a chippy every night is quite appealing after 6 years

I'd stay less than 183 days + based on advice here (I've been reading the forums) have my UK company invoiced by my foreign company.

There are other factors too (tl;dr etc)
