Hey ho... another neg rep from you

It seemed the obvious answer - the industry is awash with people who come up with 'ideas' but the same people are unable to implement or understand any limitations around those same ideas
How fortunate for governments that the people they administer don't think

For most things I use my brain. If I forget something that means it wasn't important enough for me to remember it.

I also use a bunch of computery things, one of my longest outstanding tasks is to "consolidate" those. One note, office online, google docs, google calander, springpad & outlook all get a look in.

I also use old fashioned notebooks, particularly these but also moleskin ones as I went through a phase of buying them and they started piling up around the place so I thought I had better use some of them. I very rarely look in the books once I have written in them, the main benefit here is that writing stuff down improves retention.

I suppose it depends on why you thik you lack organisation skills. Are you constantly interrupted? Do you get distracted by the more interesting things?

I find (and I hate this term) time-boxing is quite effective. I ll draw up a to do list at the beginning of the day, then tell myself I will spend n hours on problem x followed by n+/-1 hours on problem y. I keep good notes on everything I do and then check items off my list. That lets me give progress reports to people who might be hassling me.
I've never found Outlook etc. much good for managing myself but can be quite good for helping to manage micro-managers.

                I thought it was more:

                  Guilty as charged m'lud (sometimes).

I have tried various bits of task management software in the past, but found them all far too annoying and time intensive to populate. I do add appointment reminders for critical tasks in Outlook too.

I would say that is good time management. I only bother to do that with the absolutely critical stuff.

All my tasks are broken into small manageable sizes. Nothing more than one hour at a time.

I do change or move to another task until the 1st is complete.
