The Daily Mail, I mean; if you go and have a look on Google Maps and StreetView you'll find the house is some way away from the gas works (which is due for demolition) and appears to look out over the adjacent fields towards some low hills.Comment

It was however about 200 yards from one of the worst council estates in the county, the sort where it was rumoured that even Alsatians went in pairs.
Some unfortunate chap in the navy had bought it unseen and whoever viewed it on his behalf had been taken the respectable and scenic route to see it.
My worst estate agent story: when my house was up for sale (as was most of the street), I had a look in the selling agent's office to see what prices my neighbours were asking. A bag of slime crept up behind me and told me not to buy my own house "unless I liked the smell of curry next door". I still don't know how I managed to avoid decking the git on the spot.
