Its been a while since I posted about SKA and this time I will let the Guardian speak for me: they published an article in today's paper (technology edition bit inside it) about my work, you can read it here

Special thanks go to select individuals (particularly FiddleAbout) from CUK forum who supported the project from its start - this helped greatly to not give up early!

In other news SKA reached new milestone of over 1 bln indexed web pages - relevance has been improved substantially, but a lot more will come, so stay tuned for next SKA news update!!!!
Congrats and keep at it, but I still reckon that without some financial model it's little more than a big boy's toy (unless Google or someone snaps it up for megabucks).

With a distributed system, as yours apparently is, perhaps it would help if index page storage hosters were rewarded in small increments each time their data was used (unless the information is so "striped" across multiple hosts as to make that impractical). But you'd need some funds coming into the system by sponsored links, and ways of detecting hosters trying to work the system to their advantage (doing repeated searches on data they know they have indexed, for example). Or, again with precautions, you could promote results up the rankings for sites that agree to store index data.

      Quite so.

      Wise old owl.

You've come right out the other side of the forest of irony and ended up in the desert of wrong.

            hehe thanks guys.

The money will come from licensing program - search engine turns out to be very very efficient, which means it will make an excellent smaller scale search engine, ie enterprise search or product search - when I have re-written search engine in my ex-ex-employer we have observed 4 times reduction in database usage (CPU), this can save big bucks.

Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.

When you become rich please remember the underprivileged of this world and donate some money to charity. I would like to recommend the "SG Champagne and Expensive Whores" Fund. Reg. Charity No. 4327268.
This is dedicated to alleviate the pain of existence of a certain character, but if funds are left over they can be used for other characters, especially if female. Thanks.

PS. Congrats ad well done by the way.

As long as they have own car, home and GSOH, I see no real difficulty. It would help if you didn't try and eat her I think.

No, but if the gent were suitably loaded she might decide to divorce him in the interests of fairness after a couple of years.
