Childbirth - NHS or Private?

Mrs PRC had a private room in an NHS hospital. So the birth part was all NHS but she didn't have to recover in a ward full of the great unwashed.

For our first the maternity ward in our local NHS hospital was empty when we arrived so we saw little point in paying for the small private room, my wife stayed for 3 days and though the ward did fill it wasn't full of the ghastly people you speak of.

Maybe move to a nicer area.

BTW our 2nd is due today.

To be fair, the ward wasn't full for us either. It was more a case of wanting to be sure of some peace and quiet, oh and £100 is hardly going to break the bank is it?
