Nah - it's a nice house in a nice area and I'm not paying over the top....my quagmire of greed....my cesspit of laziness and unfairness....all I am doing is sticking two fingers up at nurses, doctors and other hard working employed professionals...

And what you paid is what you paid, where as AtW's rent will rise with inflation, year after year after year.Originally posted by Lockhouse View PostNah - it's a nice house in a nice area and I'm not paying over the top.

I'll get my coat.
PS you'll need to take collections from visitors to pay for the heating and upkeep. Better yet, get them to take out deeds of covenant; they are very tax efficient. Hosting summer fetes in the grounds is another source of income.Behold the warranty -- the bold print giveth and the fine print taketh away.Comment

I knew that endowments were crap, but I didn't realise they were that crap.Originally posted by Paddy View PostMy endowment with Standard Life was supposed to be worth £75k. I have put £38k into it and its worth £7k I am taking them to Court.
A decade or three ago you had all on trying to get a mortgage without an endowment.
In fact the only way (to my knowledge) to do it was to take out an endowment mortgage, then once moved in ask to change to a normal repayment mortgage and cancel the endowment policy.Behold the warranty -- the bold print giveth and the fine print taketh away.Comment

AtW, you property mupp, with inflation at 5% (where it will probably stay or even rise) the arithmetic totally changes.
P.S. My mortgage for a two-bed flat in South Ken is £500 per month. Remind me again, what is the monthly rental for your flat in Brum?
Come to think of it, maybe it's time I took my own advice and maxed out on a new mortgage for a larger property.Last edited by OwlHoot; 16 April 2011, 09:32.Work in the public sector? Read the IR35 FAQ hereComment
