Currently 66 miles e/w = approx 75 mins (M6 is a nightmare on the way home).Originally posted by ThomasSoerensen View PostHow long is your daily commute?
Clientco operates a 7hr day, so run out the orifice at 4pm on the dot.
This is first gig in over 12 years that I've not been travelling south on 5:30am train from Preston on Monday morning, returning Friday afternoon. Mrs M appears to prefer me away during the week...!!!And on the eighth day God said, "Okay, Murphy, you're in charge!"Comment

I'm currently commuting almost 4 hours a day. I live just outside Winchester and commute to EC3. Been doing it for 6 years.
Next month I'm (hopefully) moving further away which will add another 10 minutes each way. I don't enjoy the commute but it's all about the cash. I usually work from home one day a week which makes a big difference.
I work 07:30 to 17:00.Last edited by Lockhouse; 29 March 2011, 12:01....my quagmire of greed....my cesspit of laziness and unfairness....all I am doing is sticking two fingers up at nurses, doctors and other hard working employed professionals...

Winchester is posh (and so are some of the bits around it).Originally posted by Lockhouse View PostI'm currently commuting almost 4 hours a day. I live just outside Winchester and commute to EC3. Been doing it for 6 years."You’re just a bad memory who doesn’t know when to go away" JRComment

Currently about 1 hour 50mins each way but 1 hour 15 mins of that is in a train 1st class so not too bad. I slept all the way in to work today. When I am not sleeping I am watching movies and episodes on my ipad so i only really feel about 30 mins of the commute which is 10 mins drive, 10 mins waiting for the train and the 10 min shuttle from train to work. I tend to get in for before 9 and leave at either 4.30 or 5.30 thus arriving home after 6 or 7.Comment

I don't hate driving itself, but I do hate the hassle of driving on a long commute.Originally posted by doodab View PostI hate driving personally. Aside from the unpredictability of traffic and risk to life and limb it's impossible to get anything done. At least on a 2 hr train ride you can read a book, watch a DVD or get some work done.
When I started out contracting I could bill for work I did on the 3 hour train ride to get to the client. With overnight parking where I was staying being a hassle, it was no contest.
Nowadays 7 minute train ride, 10 minutes wait and 5 minute bus ride, though if I stay late or work on a Sunday, it's a 10 minute walk plus 20 minute bus ride, and it's a pleasant walk down by a river.Last edited by Sysman; 29 March 2011, 13:52.Behold the warranty -- the bold print giveth and the fine print taketh away.Comment

My commute is around 56 miles, but takes around an hour. I work 7-3 to miss most of the traffic though.Comment

Not on the M62 you won't. Also no amount of money is worth risking your life on that death trap for...Originally posted by Wilmslow View PostMy commute is around 56 miles, but takes around an hour. I work 7-3 to miss most of the traffic though.Comment
