I noticed some people have started living in the local woodland. One group was living in a particularly nice spot under a tree. Very green.

I imagine a wooden underheated building like that probably stinks because of the mould and wood rot.

Personally I think a cave would be more comfortable.
In many countries wooden houses are quite the norm.

Wooden houses if maintained properly have a minimum life expectancy of 30 years which may not sound a lot but when you consider you can buy one for £40K it is still cheaper than brick (you only buy the land once). It’s just the UK mentality / tradition that houses have to be brick or they will fall down; most new houses are timber framed with a brick / block & render skin to them purely for atheistic reasons
& I do believe that all new developments should have ground heat recovery built in

              Really ? Gosh.

Are they underheated and damp as well? Are they also classified as uninhabitable?

They do not get damp any more than brick built & a modern timber house is more insulating than a trad brick one.

& yes I would live in a timber house.

Personally i can't stand those hermetically sealed eco boxes. Hot and stuffy & I'm convinced they are bad for one's health.

That's green technology, freezing cold in winter and hot and stuffy in summer. Being green is all about being uncomfortable for no other reason than to feel good about it.

Try visiting Scandinavia or America and let us know. Wood is the most amazing building material. Unlike AGW where the answers are unclear, you're really showing your ignorance here because there's nothing 'eco' about building from wood.
