I noticed some people have started living in the local woodland. One group was living in a particularly nice spot under a tree. Very green.Comment

In many countries wooden houses are quite the norm.Originally posted by BlasterBates View PostI think what the EU diktat means is more buildings like this.
Zero carbon building
I imagine a wooden underheated building like that probably stinks because of the mould and wood rot.
Personally I think a cave would be more comfortable.Originally posted by MaryPoppinsI'd still not breastfeed a naziOriginally posted by vetranUrine is quite nourishingComment

Wooden houses if maintained properly have a minimum life expectancy of 30 years which may not sound a lot but when you consider you can buy one for £40K it is still cheaper than brick (you only buy the land once). It’s just the UK mentality / tradition that houses have to be brick or they will fall down; most new houses are timber framed with a brick / block & render skin to them purely for atheistic reasons
& I do believe that all new developments should have ground heat recovery built inGrowing old is mandatory

Really ? Gosh.Originally posted by d000hg View PostIn many countries wooden houses are quite the norm.
Are they underheated and damp as well? Are they also classified as uninhabitable?I'm alright JackComment

They do not get damp any more than brick built & a modern timber house is more insulating than a trad brick one.Originally posted by BlasterBates View PostReally ? Gosh.

& yes I would live in a timber house.Growing old is mandatory

Personally i can't stand those hermetically sealed eco boxes. Hot and stuffy & I'm convinced they are bad for one's health.Comment

That's green technology, freezing cold in winter and hot and stuffy in summer. Being green is all about being uncomfortable for no other reason than to feel good about it.Last edited by BlasterBates; 28 March 2011, 10:14.I'm alright JackComment

Try visiting Scandinavia or America and let us know. Wood is the most amazing building material. Unlike AGW where the answers are unclear, you're really showing your ignorance here because there's nothing 'eco' about building from wood.Originally posted by BlasterBates View PostReally ? Gosh.
