Due to the amount of shops in London popping into one for 2 hours then going somewhere interesting will keep her happy. Plus the larger department stores have cafes.

Most of the attractions in London unless you are in a school party or on a tour will keep the average person occupied for about 2-3 hours.
    She doesn't like shoppin'

Is it too cold to go down the river to Greenwich?

She's in her 40's very inquisitive, intelligent and likes history, Sci-fi and me.

I'm not a Northerner - although she is and she is a she.

Practically perfect in every way....there's a time and (more importantly) a place for malarkey.

National History Museum (Natural History Museum) and TateGallery (Tate: British and international modern and contemporary art) will keep you busy until 6pm at least. And next time you want to know what to do in Central London never ask a londoner or a british person.
I've seen much of the rest of the world. It is brutal and cruel and dark, Rome is the light.

The British Museum is excellent for historical stuff.

The Science Museum & Natural History Museum are great as well, although they could do with a bit of money spent on them TBH.
While you're waiting, read the free novel we sent you. It's a Spanish story about a guy named 'Manual.'

Clink Museum on the South Bank is quite interesting.

Can then go do the usual stuff after that, London Eye, Aquarium etc.
Tate Modern, if you're into looking at piles of twigs and the like.

We're visiting London for a weekend in mid-April. I was interested in the Eye, is it any good? Anyone been at night and are the queue-beating tariffs worthwhile?

Never thought of The Ritz but it seems booked up on the web at least That would have been a great way to earn points!

Question: booking a hotel in London is it worth waiting until the week we are visiting and finding a deal, or booking as early as possible? All these sites like LastMinute.com seem to have turned into generic booking sites now rather than specialising in last-minute deals... with so many hotels in London surely the odds are we can find something the day before. Anyone got any advice?
And has anyone used LastMinute's "top secret hotel" feature? Makes me worried the hotel is nowhere near anywhere I want to be. Is it trustworthy?
