Having previously seen "The Ascent of Money", Niall Ferguson's series "Civilisation" was good watching,
Apart from his insistence upon making referring to innovations as "apps", which was irritating.
I'd given Brian Cox's programme a try but it was too laboured.

Sssh! I don't want everyone knowing. If my car windows are open, I'm a cool R1 chick.

Windows up; I like to have R4 on in the hope some of the clever stuff will permeate my brain.

If Brian Cox is presenting a program, no matter how interesting the subject matter, I'll switch off (or over). I cannot abide his chirpy grin. Irritating little tick.

I did see a popular science program recently presented by someone else, who was far better. I can't remember what it was called, but it involved blowing up a melon to demonstrate the big bang. That was quite cool.

On a not entirely related subject, I tuned in to 'Bang goes the theory' yesterday as I'd noticed Liz Bonnin would be presenting; what a shame that she was wearing a rather frumpy blouse, instead of something that would compliment her attractive, erm, intellect.

That program is far more condescending than anything Cox has done, it was a rushed together hotchpotch aimed at people who've managed to get through life so far without ever wondering what an earthquake actually is.

Back on topic, I like Cox... I mean... I think Brian does a good job giving a small insight into a very complicated subject.
Science isn't about why, it's about why not. You ask: why is so much of our science dangerous? I say: why not marry safe science if you love it so much. In fact, why not invent a special safety door that won't hit you in the butt on the way out, because you are fired. - Cave Johnson

WHS. Bang Goes the Theory comprises a guy who fancies himself, an absolute thicko and Liz Bonnin as the jewel in the crown. It can be annoying to watch for various reasons, but I still watch it.

I wasn't expecting a BSc level lecture on geology, just a good look at Liz Bonnin.

And tying the two together nicely, did you notice how much better Liz coped with being on top of Hawaii than Brian? Brian looked ill, whereas Liz looked fit, but you already said that.
